The Â鶹´«Ã½ welcomed visitors from the Royal Society for a tour of the facilities at the DigiTech Centre on BT’s Adastral Park before exploring opportunities for partnering on future projects around data and digital technology.
The representatives from the Society’s Science and Policy directorate met with Professor Sara de Freitas, Director of the University’s Digital Futures Institute To discuss ideas for future collaboration.
The visit also included a look around the zero carbon DigiTech Smart House by Professor Darryl Newport, Director of the Suffolk Sustainability Institute and Professor of Energy and Sustainable Development at the Â鶹´«Ã½.
Professor de Freitas said: “We are really excited to work with the Royal Society on research proposals, policy development and future strategies for digital technology.
“We are looking forward to building a strong, close collaboration over a number of years with a focus on policy on digital technology areas.”
Areeq Chowdhury, Head of Policy at the Royal Society said the visit had been a great success.
“I am very impressed with the breadth of work the Â鶹´«Ã½ is doing and am very excited by the establishment of the Digital Futures Institute.
“We are looking forward to seeing how we can work together in areas such as data and digital technology.”
The Royal Society is the world’s oldest independent scientific academy dedicated to promoting excellence in science with roots dating back to the 1600s.
