The Â鶹´«Ã½’s commitment to developing its researchers’ careers has been recognised once again

The European Commission’s HR Excellence in Research Award from Vitae, a global leader in supporting the professional development of researchers, has been retained following the University’s six-year review and is public recognition for its commitment to its researchers.

Aligning the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for their Recruitment, the award acknowledges that institutions have completed analysis of their existing policies and practice, developed a robust action plan for implementation and taken into account the views of researchers.

It shows the Â鶹´«Ã½ has demonstrated long-term commitment to the career development of its researchers.

Commenting on the award, Professor Emma Bond, Pro Vice-Chancellor Research at the Â鶹´«Ã½ said: “We are delighted that our thriving research culture has again been recognised and rewarded.

“The Â鶹´«Ã½ initially achieved the HR Excellence in Research Award in 2017.

“It enables institutions to gain the European Commission's 'HR Excellence in Research' badge, acknowledging alignment with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for their Recruitment.

“The Â鶹´«Ã½ both endorses and supports the principles of the UK Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, and this is exemplified by the many activities undertaken across the University which demonstrate our commitment to all our researchers and their research careers.

“We are committed to empowering and supporting all researchers to conduct research at the highest level. We are thrilled that this excellence has been recognised by the European Commission.”

Vitae supports the professional development of researchers and their institutions as they strive for excellence, innovation and impact.

They aim to influence the development and implementation of effective policy relating to researcher development as well as enhance higher education provision to train and develop researchers.
