Overview
The BA (Hons) Business Management (Top up) course brings together degree-level education and professional practise. Our BA (Hons) Business Management degree has been co-designed with industry experts to equip you with the hands-on experience and knowledge relevant to industry allowing you to thrive in a complex, digital landscape.
Top up students join the BA (Hons) Business Management degree at the start of the third year. Here you have the choice to customise your degree based on individual ambitions and interests. A BA (Hons) Business Management degree will be awarded upon completion of the course.
We know that the future of business includes the metaverse, AI and machine learning so it’s important to us that you leave your degree with an understanding of how those areas work and how they will impact your future career. All students will take our Future of Business module at our Digitech centre, BT’s Adastral Park, which provides you with insight into technological advancements and innovation at the cutting edge of current and future developments.

The extended project provides students with the opportunity to work on a project of interest to them. The module is deliberately designed to be flexible and to offer students the option of undertaking a more formal piece of research; to work on a project suggested by their employer or another organization; or to undertake research into the feasibility of a business idea or in preparation of a business plan.
This module provides specific provision for students that wish to focus on entrepreneurship and the study of entrepreneurial practice. It also provides students with the chance to synthesise learning through supported study on a topic or idea of interest to them, supported by academics, enterprise professionals and SME owner/managers.
This module focuses on technology and how ever-changing advancements in technology impact the way we work and the way companies are adapting and evolving. We will look at topics such as artificial intelligence, cyber security & data protection, manufacturing using technology, automation and digital communication.
You will develop an academic understanding of the strategic context of business, along with analysis and problem-solving skills. You will learn to adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to finding solutions and strategic thinking, drawing on skills developed. This module will explore the nature of organisational culture and its impact on employees and enable students to develop a critical awareness of organisational theory and practice. It will enable you to deal with the problems, choices and constraints involved in organisational change. It will encourage you to develop your own intellectual framework of values, attitudes and practice.
This module gives you an appreciation of several financial issues and how they relate to the business world. Initially the module concentrates on the application of financial tools and techniques, before progressing to a more strategic perspective. It will encourage you to see the financial implications of the decision-making process.
This module will analyse the work of managing a brand within organisations. Therefore, whether you are employed in a marketing role or work in another capacity within an organisation this module will help you to understand and critique the types of decisions involved in managing brands as well as discussing contemporary challenges of brand management in organisations.
E-commerce (electronic commerce) is the buying and selling of goods and services, or the transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic network. In this module we explore how to generate sales through e-commerce, how to ensure your business is optimised to process and handle those sales and how effective design contributes to this.
Being able to embed new technologies and systems can be challenging for businesses of all sizes. This module builds on from your level 5 understanding of digital innovation to start to think strategically about how this impacts a business's workload, growth and future proofing
Entrepreneurial Strategy explores the long-term goals and purpose of organisations, by looking at how to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. This module focuses on resilience and forward thinking strategies.
Multi-channel strategies are crucial for the success of digital marketing campaigns. This module explores how Martech plays it’s part in developing successful digital marketing strategies.

This degree enables you to work within a range of industries, whether major corporates, the public sector, SME’s, charities or start-ups. Graduates have gone on to set up their own businesses through the support of our innovations labs and some have gone on to become account managers, hold senior management and leadership roles in a range of national and international organisations.
The key element of this degree and is specialised pathways is that you can becoming an expert in a specialist subject such as Marketing or Entrepreneurship but you still carry with you that crucial business acumen needed in industry.
